Drone Defense 2 Solver Mode — Post-Void Hidden Mode
How to enter, what the rework shipped, and how Solver Shards buy tesscyn and entity.
Solver Mode is a hidden mode in Drone Defense 2 that unlocks after you beat Void Mode. The 5 September 2026 Void event was not just an Abyss clear — it opened the door to Solver Mode, which received a full rework alongside it. The rework shipped: a new Solver Mode map and enemies, a tesscyn/entity purchase path via Solver Shards, a brand new enhancement area, and bug fixes.
This page is the Solver Mode explainer. For Void Mode itself, see Void Mode. For tesscyn ownership, see the drone roster.
How to access Solver Mode
- Beat Void Mode (complete The Abyss — see Void Mode for the entry requirements).
- Return to the lobby. Go to the building behind Crafting.
- Press E or tap the ProximityPrompt near the door.
- If the ProximityPrompt does not appear, you have not yet beaten Void Mode. The prompt will not show for accounts without a Void clear.
The door is behind the Crafting station in the main lobby area. Do not look for it in the match elevator or the Abyss lobby — it is a lobby interaction.
What the rework shipped (community reports)
Players who accessed Solver Mode after the 5 September 2026 patch reported the following:
- New Solver Mode map — a distinct layout from the Void Abyss, with its own enemy set.
- Solver Shards — a new currency earned inside Solver Mode. Used to purchase tesscyn and the Entity from the Void Tinkerer’s Void Shop.
- New enemies — solver-themed enemies distinct from standard Abyss waves.
- Enhancement area — a new zone inside Solver Mode for upgrading solver units.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements — per the RockGod developer post on X.
The original pre-rework Solver Mode was accessible from the original Drone Defense at a different place ID. The sequel’s version is specific to universe 9031167776 and the Void-gated door behind Crafting.
Solver Shards and what they buy
Solver Shards are earned inside Solver Mode matches. They are not the same as the Void Keycard or Eldritch Key — those belong to Void Mode and The Abyss. Solver Shards are specific to the Solver Mode economy.
The Void Tinkerer’s Void Shop (found inside Solver Mode or in the Abyss Supply Bunker path) sells:
- Tesscyn — Secret tier unit. Formerly obtained by beating Void Mode for the first time; now purchased with Solver Shards. You can place up to eight (8) tesscyns at once.
- The Entity — another purchase option via Solver Shards.
This replaces the original Void Mode drop for tesscyn. If you earned tesscyn from the first Void clear before the rework, that ownership is retained. New players must earn Solver Shards in Solver Mode to purchase it.
Tesscyn in brief
- Tier: Secret.
- Placement limit: 8 tesscyns simultaneously.
- Source: Void Tinkerer’s Void Shop, purchased with Solver Shards earned in Solver Mode.
- Access: Requires Void Mode to be beaten first.
See the drone roster for the full tesscyn context and how it fits in the 15-drone kit.
Enhancement area
The new enhancement area inside Solver Mode allows you to push solver-themed units beyond their standard upgrade path. This is separate from the regular unit tier system and the perk vendor. Details on exact upgrade options are still being measured by the community; check Discord for the latest tesscyn and Entity enhancement data.
Void Tinkerer and the Supply Bunker
The Void Tinkerer is an NPC found in the Supply Bunker, accessible via the Eldritch Key door. This path is separate from the main Abyss clear:
- Keeper of the Abyss badge — requires finding and talking to the Void Tinkerer after opening the Eldritch Key door in the Supply Bunker.
- This is an exploration badge, not a difficulty clear. You do not need to beat the Abyss for it, only find the door and the NPC.
The Void Tinkerer also runs the Void Shop where tesscyn and the Entity are purchased with Solver Shards.
What this means for your next steps
After you clear Void Mode:
- Return to the lobby.
- Find the door behind Crafting.
- Press E or interact with the ProximityPrompt.
- Play Solver Mode to earn Solver Shards.
- Buy tesscyn from the Void Tinkerer’s Void Shop.
- Work toward the Keeper of the Abyss badge via the Supply Bunker Eldritch Key door.
Solver Mode and Void Mode are both permanent additions to the game as of 5 September 2026. They do not expire when the event window closes.
What we will not guess
Exact Solver Shard earn rates, tesscyn stat numbers, Entity stats, or enhancement area upgrade costs. Community members are actively measuring these. We update when reliable data surfaces. Until then, the ownership paths above are confirmed; the numbers are not.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, tiers, maps, and the Summer Event.
How do I access Solver Mode?
Beat Void Mode first, then go to the building behind Crafting in the lobby and press E or use the ProximityPrompt. If the prompt does not appear, you have not cleared Void Mode yet.
What are Solver Shards used for?
Solver Shards are spent in the Void Tinkerer's Void Shop to purchase tesscyn (Secret tier, 8 max) and the Entity.
Is tesscyn still obtained by beating Void Mode?
After the 5 September 2026 rework, tesscyn is purchased with Solver Shards earned in Solver Mode, not from a one-time Void clear. Pre-rework Void clears still retain tesscyn ownership.
What is the Keeper of the Abyss badge?
An exploration badge: find the Void Tinkerer in the Supply Bunker after opening the Eldritch Key door. Separate from the Abyss difficulty clear.
Is Solver Mode permanent?
Yes. Both Solver Mode and Void Mode are permanent additions to the game as of the 5 September 2026 patch. They do not expire when the event window closes.
