Drone Defense 2 Maps, Modes, and the Abyss

Drone Defense 2 sells itself on “conquer the hardest difficulties and maps.” The sequel is not a single lane with a difficulty slider slapped on. You pick a map elevator, vote a mode, and the badge system tells you whether the game even considers that a real clear.

This page is the ladder. For placements, stay on Getting Started. For currencies per clear, use farm resources. For the 5 September 2026 listing, see Void Mode.

The standard ladder

Badges make the order official:

Badge	Meaning
New Drone	Complete Easy on any map
Experienced Drone	Complete Medium on any map
Skilled Drone	Complete Hard on any map
The Abyss	Full Void/Abyss clear: every mode, restricted area, Voided one, key of the abyss, bottom boss

If you do not own New Drone, you do not get to complain about Medium. Vote Easy until that badge ticks, then tier up before Experienced Drone.

Easy is the tutorial the game refused to write. Learn pathing, eco timing, and sell discipline. Batteries start here (wins only).

Medium is the first real filter. Community videos exist specifically because people said it was too hard — including the solo clear we embed on Getting Started. If you leak on wave six, you skipped tiers or eco, not “the map is unfair.”

Hard is a payout upgrade and a coordination test. Online co-op on a 20-player server helps if the extra players actually place eco. It hurts if they place four un-tiered DPS on top of each other. Hard is also where Batteries and Keybugs jump enough to justify the extra focus.

Void / The Abyss

The Abyss badge text is a short horror story: you conquered every mode, entered the restricted area, found the Voided one, obtained the key of the abyss, and beat the thing at the bottom. The badge was listed as not yet available on the fan wiki snapshot, but the level sits behind the Void Keycard door. A Roblox event titled VOID MODE is dated Saturday 5 September 2026 with the line “The Abyss awaits you.”

Treat Void as endgame, not a shortcut. Original Drone Defense players remember farming Void even on a loss for solver shards. Do not assume the sequel copied that economy until you see it pay. Read Void Mode notes after this page so we do not duplicate patch rumours here.

Keeper of the Abyss is a separate badge: find and talk to The Void Tinkerer by opening the door that needs the Eldritch Key in the Supply Bunker. That is an exploration beat, not a difficulty vote.

How to pick a map tonight

1. If you still die on Easy, stay on Easy. Farm, do not tourism.
2. If Easy is a stomp, Medium is the next badge and the next honest farm.
3. If Medium is stable, Hard is for Batteries and flex units from the roster.
4. If Hard is stable and you have the keycard path, look at Abyss content.
5. During August 2026, interleave the Summer Event maps/lobby rather than living in Void prep.

There is no local split-screen. “Duo” means two people in an online elevator, not a couch mode.

Leaks, bosses, and when to leave

Leave a doomed Hard if you needed Batteries — losses do not pay them. Stay if you needed Keybugs and you already reached expensive waves. That single rule saves more time than any script promise.

Boss HP and leak damage scale with the vote. Perks that shave boss HP or add base regen (the original game had those as named abilities; the sequel sells perks) are Hard-and-up tools. They are overkill on Easy and a trap if they delayed your eco tier.

When a patch retunes a map, it will show up on the updates hub before this ladder changes. Until then, vote with badges, not with ego.
