Drone Defense 2 Farm Keybugs, Batteries, Oil, and Shells
Honest loops for lobby currencies and in-match Oil after you can clear Easy.
Every stuck account in Drone Defense 2 is missing one of four currencies. Mix them up and you will “farm” for an hour without moving the needle. This page splits the loops so you can pick the bottleneck instead of grinding on vibes.
Read currencies if you need the definitions. Redeem codes once per account, then come here. Tiers still come first — a faster farm on a leaking board is just a faster loss.
Keybugs (the summon purse)
Keybugs pay when you finish a round, including losses. Higher difficulties pay more. That means a clean Easy is often better than a throw-on-purpose Hard, but a controlled loss on a higher vote can still beat a slow Easy if you reach the later waves. The sequel’s own badge table implies the ladder: Easy, Medium, Hard, then Abyss content.
Practical Keybug loop:
- Bring a tiered eco + hold you can play half-asleep.
- Vote the highest difficulty you can reach late waves on, not the highest you can queue.
- Turn on skip/auto-wave if the map offers it so downtime is not the farm.
- Cash out, upgrade tiers or summon one planned unit, repeat.
Do not sit in Void/Abyss until that mode is actually farmable for you. A 5 September 2026 event will spike interest; it will not print Keybugs for a day-one board.
Batteries (wins only)
Batteries do not pay on a loss. If your farm is Battery-gated, you must close the match. Easy wins with a stable loadout beat heroic deaths on Hard. The +4 Batteries gamepass and VIP’s 1.25x Battery multiplier only apply to match payouts, never to the B3TT3R code.
Battery loop: Easy or Medium you can 95% win, short maps first, no secret-hunting mid-run. Save keypad jokes and radio-dial badges for a secrets session.
Oil (in-match only)
Oil cannot be banked in the lobby. You generate it from kills, mini-bosses, bosses, and wave clears, then spend it on placement and E-upgrades. Eco units exist specifically to raise that curve. If you are “out of Oil” every game, you placed too many names too early. One eco, one hold, delay the third placement. The Medium video on Getting Started is an Oil-timing lesson even if you never vote Medium.
Perks that start you with extra Oil or extra eco slots are the right Keybug sink after your core drones are tiered. They are the wrong sink if you still leak on Easy.
Shells (summer purse)
Shells are the August 2026 event currency for Ducky N’s Summer Market. Codes 5K_COMMUNITY (500) and 10K_GROUP (300) are the free pile. After that, you earn Shells through the event loop described on the Summer Event page — not through random Easy farms unless the event says so.
Spend Shells on bundles that advance Scuba Tessa or the Sea Shell Collector badge or that contain a drone you will actually place. Cosmetics last; your Medium board does not.
What not to farm
- Do not farm with un-tiered trophy units because a tier list called them S. S-tier at rank 1 is a screenshot, not a strategy.
- Do not farm original-game Event Shards. Those belong to Drone Defense 1.
- Do not AFK if the mode still requires placements. You will burn server slots and get nothing.
- Do not buy Keybugs with Robux until you have spent the code pile and a week of Easy/Medium. The 1.5x Keybugs pass is a multiplier on a loop you already like.
When the farm is online co-op, assign jobs: one player eco, one hold, one flex. Shared servers of 20 people are not a reason to place 20 copies of the same DPS.
Track the next spend on the resource checklist so you stop farming “in general.” Pick Keybugs or Batteries or Shells, hit a number, then leave.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, tiers, maps, and the Summer Event.
Do I get Keybugs if I lose?
Yes. Keybugs pay for finishing a round. Batteries do not. Leave a doomed Hard if you needed Batteries; finish it if you needed Keybugs and you reached late waves.
What is the fastest honest Keybug farm?
The highest difficulty you can play deep into, on a tiered eco loadout, with wave skip on. Codes are faster, but they are one-time.
Can I convert Shells into Keybugs?
Only if a Summer Market bundle says so. Treat Shells as event currency first, not a universal wallet.
Does VIP help farming?
VIP multiplies match Keybugs, XP, and Batteries slightly and adds teleports. It does not multiply code payouts or create Oil in the lobby.
