Drone Defense 2 Beginner Loadouts That Actually Clear
Three-slot bars for new accounts — copy the roles even if you do not own the fancy names.
New Drone Defense 2 accounts lose Medium because they copy a six-unit endgame screenshot. You have limited placement, limited Oil, and maybe two drones worth placing. This page is the bar you can actually field after codes and one summon session.
If a name below is missing from your index, substitute the same role from the drones tier list. Then tier those substitutes before you queue.
The only beginner template
- Eco — first placement, first in-match upgrades.
- Hold — covers the longest path, second placement.
- Backline — third placement, only after Oil is flowing.
That is the whole loadout. A fourth name is a Hard luxury. Perks should support this template (starting Oil, extra eco, extra place cap), not replace it.
Easy clear bar
- Eco: whatever money-maker you own. If you only have a worker-style starter, it still goes first.
- Hold: Tessa if you have her; otherwise your tankiest tagged unit (N/Uzi starters count).
- Backline: skip it on the first Easy. Spend the Oil on eco levels. Unlock New Drone first.
Goal: one clean win for Batteries, plus Keybugs even if it was ugly. Then stop and upgrade the two names you placed.
Medium solo bar
This is the bar that matches the “Medium is too hard” complaint.
- Eco: tiered. If it is not tiered, you are not ready.
- Hold: Tessa-line or your best lane cover, tiered, placed where the solo video on Getting Started holds the path — copy the spot, not just the name.
- Backline: Uzi-line or N/Overseer N if owned and tiered. Place late.
Vote Medium only after an Easy stomp. If wave six leaks, you dropped eco or you placed backline too early. Do not add a fourth drone; sell (X) the late DPS and feed the hold.
”I got a legendary from a ten-pull” bar
Still eco first. The legendary is slot three if it is a backline, or slot two if it is actually a hold. It is never slot one unless it is literally your only eco. Un-tiered legendaries are D-tier in practice. Spend the next Keybugs on its tier, not on a second legendary.
Summer event bar
Do not replace eco with Ducky N because the lobby is yellow. Keep the Easy/Medium template, then park Scuba Tessa in flex only if a quest step requires her on the field. Summer Event is a shop and a questline, not a new physics engine.
Co-op bar
On a 20-player server, call roles before ready:
- Player A: eco
- Player B: hold
- Player C: backline
- Everyone else: fills leaks, does not stack the same DPS tile
If nobody wants eco, you will leak. Online co-op is not a skip for this template.
What to summon toward
Use leftover Keybugs on the first missing role, in order: eco → hold → backline. Use the resource checklist so you do not “just one more pull.” After each session, return to Getting Started only if Easy broke; otherwise go farm.

I only own two drones. Can I still play?
Yes. Eco plus hold is a complete Easy bar. Unlock the backline after those two are tiered.
What if my only eco is weak?
Tier it anyway. A weak tiered eco beats a fancy un-tiered DPS. Farm Keybugs on Easy until the next eco name drops.
Should I run four units on Medium?
Not until Oil is comfortable. Three roles, upgraded in match, beat four starving placements.
Can I copy a Hard YouTube bar?
Copy the role order, not the unit count. Hard bars assume tiers and perks you probably do not have yet.
