Drone Defense 2 Perks

Lobby Keybugs buy match perks here. The original ability shop belongs to another place.

Match Perks

The Roblox page for Drone Defense 2 says it in one line: purchase perks that aid you while in a match. That sentence is the whole difference from original Drone Defense, which sold an ability shop on a different place ID. If you walk into the sequel looking for the old ability bar, you will spend Keybugs on the wrong mental model. This page is the translation layer. Pair it with currencies so you know which wallet pays, and with controls so you stop looking for an ability hotkey.

We do not invent a 40-row perk DPS table. Solver Games has not published a complete public spreadsheet for the sequel vendor. What we can document is when perks apply, what they cost, and what they are not.

Perks are match-time, bought in the lobby

You buy perks in the lobby vendor with Keybugs. They then help inside a match: income, placement, survivability, the kinds of effects that used to live on abilities in the first game. They do not permanently raise a drone’s tier. Tiers are a separate persistent upgrade — how to upgrade tiers. Mixing “I bought a perk, so I can skip tiers” is how Medium still leaks.

Keybugs arrive when you finish a round, including a loss, and they scale with difficulty. Codes (SECRET_01, Release) dump a starter pile. The 1.5x Keybugs gamepass multiplies match Keybugs, not the vendor price and not promo codes.

Spend order for a new account

  1. Redeem the live codes so you have Keybugs at all.
  2. Summon or keep the two drones you actually place. Empty flex slots wait.
  3. Raise tiers on those two. Official copy says the early game is hard until you do.
  4. Buy one perk that helps the plan you already wrote in the loadout planner — usually income or placement, not a vanity effect.
  5. Only then vote Medium. See maps.

If Easy still hurts, you do not need a second perk. You need Oil from eco units and a hold that covers the path. Perks amplify a bar that already works.

What not to import from the original

Original Drone Defense let abilities define a playstyle across a 50-plus roster, Event Shards, and hidden modes (Void cube, Solver door, Null). The sequel is a 15-drone remake with a perk vendor. Do not:

  • Look for the old ability hotbar or keybind it like a skill.
  • Assume Void / Solver / Null ability packages transfer on 5 September 2026. The listed VOID MODE event is a sequel date, not a promise that 2024 shards return. Read Void Mode.
  • Paste original-wiki ability names into this vendor and call them confirmed.

When a creator overlay shows eight “must-buy perks,” count how many are screenshots from the first game. Original Drone Defense still exists if you want that shop.

If you only remember one row, remember Oil is not Keybugs. E-upgrades are not perks. Summer Shells are not perks. VIP is not a perk.

Co-op does not share perks. Your vendor purchase is on your account. A teammate with a better perk does not cover your empty eco slot.

After events

The Summer market (Ducky N, from 22 August 2026) sells bundles, not a replacement perk tree. Scuba Tessa is a questline, not a perk. If a 5 September Void patch adds a new vendor tab, it will show up in the client and then on updates. Until then, buy one income or placement perk, tier two drones, and stop shopping mid-session.

Discord (discord.gg/dronedefense) is the leak hose for renamed perks. Wait for the live lobby before you rebuild a six-perk screenshot. A clean session is still three slots, one wallet, one perk, then queue.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for codes, tiers, maps, and the Summer Event.

Are perks the same as abilities in original Drone Defense?

No. The sequel uses a Keybug perk vendor for match effects. The old ability shop is on the original place.

Do perks raise unit tiers?

No. Tiers are a separate persistent upgrade. Perks do not replace the official early-game warning.

Should I buy perks before summoning?

Summon or keep the two drones you will place, tier them, then buy one perk that supports that bar.

Will Void Mode add the old ability bar?

There is no public patch note that says so. Prep Hard and a three-slot loadout. Recheck the vendor on 5 September.
